Tsuwamono Shijin Chapter 3

After the events of yesterday the day went on normally. Mr Burton yelled at me for taking too long of a lunch break, then he loaded on a ton of paperwork. Thankfully I got it done before I had to punch out so I could relax when I got home.

*sigh* So tired...

I opened the door to my apartment and went straight to my bed, I had been exhausted from this new responsibility given to me. Exorcising demons too strong for their hosts.

What a burden....

Tomorrow is my day off, so I'm going to try and relax. I'll most likely just sit around and watch tv, or maybe write some poetry. Just things to kind of take of stress.

That will be great....

So I just made dinner, ate, and then went to bed eager for my day off the next day.

"Wake up, you have a busy day ahead." I heard that familiar voice say...though it sounded a little different.
As I awoke I saw an orb of light floating above me, startled I threw my blanket off of me.

"Ahhhh, what?" I said
"Do not be alarmed it is only me" the spirit said as I got out of bed.
"Don't scare me like that, sheesh you know I almost thought you were a demon attacking me in my sleep?"
I could hear the spirit giggle a little...what a nuisance.

"Anyways, what do you mean busy? Today's my day off!" I questioned as the orb floated around me while I went to go brush my teeth.
"Today will be your first exorcism....alone" the spirit said.
"Alone? What will you be doing?" I muffled through a toothpaste filled mouth.
"That is a surprise, for now you need to get ready"

As I finished and went to go get some clothes on the list of names appeared in my hands. Both mine and Keith's names had checks by them and a third had appeared.
"Lindsay Taylor" I said aloud, realizing it would be the first female to be exorcised.
"You'll find her in the park closest to your apartment" the spirit said as I had finished getting dressed.
"Am I going to have to do this in broad daylight in front of everyone? It's going to look kind of strange when she falls to her knees in front of me for now reason." I said worriedly.
"You'll know what to do when you get there, now be off"
"You're no help" I said as I headed out the door.

I arrived at the park to find it lively as ever
"This is going to be really difficult" I said as I walked through the entrance.
"How am I even supposed to...huh?" I stopped mid sentence as I noticed the transforming pen I had was glowing faintly.
I think I get it, so like a madman I walked around the park staring at the pen to see if the glowing got brighter. Until I came to a set of thick trees, the glowing was very intense so I walked into the pathway. I eventually found a female sitting on a bench, reading a magazine. I pointed my pen at her and it glowed it's brightest. I then looked around to check if anyone one was watching, confirming there wasn't I grabbed a piece of paper hoping this would work.
"Let's begin!"

Almost as if on cue the paper glowed and the area around us became darker, I then strode over to the woman with my pen sword in hand.
"Ohh...what a handsome man...tell me, did you come here just for me" she said in a seductive tone as her voice became more distorted.
I replied mockingly "Haha, you could say you caught my eye" as I prepared to strike. However I was stuck in place...
There was some kind of string holding me in place, as the woman stood up I could see the strings coming off of her.
"Oh, is the poor man stuck, maybe I'll cut you loose...or down." she said as she licked her lips.
I chuckled a little "Cut loose the ties of evil!" as I said this she just kind of laughed at me. But at the same time the paper in my other hand flew loose and started cutting the strings around me. As my legs were freed I proceeded to pull loose my arms as the demon let go of the strings.

"Fine, we'll do this the hard way!" she said as the piece of paper flew back to my hand. She then shot out a stream of goo at me, "Shield me from evil", the piece of paper turned into a shield and it blocked the shot of goo. However the demon had lunged at me and I was taken by surprise as she swiped at me with spider like arms.

I defended my best but was sent staggering backwards as she shot more string at me, panicked I sliced the string with my sword. However she caught my arm and pulled me towards her.
"Pierce the evil!" I said as I went flying forward the paper turned into a lance and I struck straight through the demon. I pulled backwards and pointed my sword at her "Seal the demon away!" I said as it glowed and shot a beam at her like it had done to the demons before. She then disappeared and the area around us went back to normal. The woman then stumbled backwards and fell to her knees as I caught her midway and helped her up. She then said she didn't feel well and took off back home. With my mission accomplished I headed back home to tell the spirit Himiko my job was done.

I was relieved when I got home, as I walked through the front door I called out.
"Are you here?"
"Over here" as I turned around I saw something I hadn't expected.....
